Some of the activities found here may sound silly and it may be hard for boys to "buy in" to the lessons involved. Before trying these activities, spend some time talking to your group about self-esteem and why having a positive, love yourself attitude is important on your journey through life. You may not get everyone, but it could be enough to sway some away from a self-destructive path.
What do you believe about yourself? gives boys a chance to look at how perceptions in childhood stay with us as we get older. They will look at beliefs they've inherited from family and friends and identify the positive, or negative, affect on themselves. From there, they will make some positive changes to work on for the future.
I Reject It gives users a chance to learn how to stop negative thoughts as they happen and replace them with positive thoughts.
Changing My Self Talk is similar to I reject it. Boys have a chance to write down all the negative things they think and feel about themselves and rewrite them as positive attributes.
