In the last 15-20 years there has been more research completed on male body image and its link to eating disorders. Alison Field, a researcher with Boston's Children's Hospital, published a study with colleagues where it was found that over 17.9% of boys became concerned with their weight and overall physique by their late teens. Of those, 2.9% developed full or partial binge eating disorders. This number could be higher with a change to the diagnostic for identifying eating disorders.
