Sarah Grogan defines body image as a person’s perceptions, feelings, and thoughts about their body that is usually conceived through size estimation, attractiveness, and emotions related to size and shape (2008, as cited in Grogan 2010). Traditonally this has been seen as a female problem but is becoming increasingly more noticeable in boys as they enter adolescence. Meaghan Ramsey's talk on "thinking you're ugly" does speak to girls, but also states that boys are showing more need for help with their body image. |
